Once known as James Stunna, James Wavs has evolved from a young turntablist into a multi-faceted sonic architect—merging the art of DJing with the science of sound.

It all began when James started scratching at just 9 years old, drawn to the rhythm and challenge of vinyl. By 14, he was already DJing paid gigs. While still in high school, he found his niche in Southern California’s prom and school dance scene, quickly becoming the go-to DJ for pro-level school events across the region. From winter formals to homecomings and grad nights, James brought the club atmosphere to gymnasiums, auditoriums, and stadiums—earning both school administrators’ trust and students’ hype.

At 15, his love for production expanded beyond the turntables. He began learning event production, gaining hands-on experience with staging, lighting, and live sound engineering. By 18, he landed an internship at Power 106 under DJ Felli Fel during the station’s flagship 2–7 PM show, where he learned the ins and outs of professional broadcasting, live mixing, and crowd engagement at a major-market level.

Over time, James shifted his energy toward the technical side of music, immersing himself in beat production, mixing, and mastering. Scratching remained in his DNA, but audio engineering and sound design became his new creative playground—blending live experience with studio precision.

He also competed at Astros’ Across the Fader DJ Battle, submitted original work to Red Bull 3Style, and earned gifted sponsorships, including branded drink collaborations—proof that his sound and brand identity connect both on-stage and online.

Now performing as James Wavs, he brings nearly two decades of experience to every stage, booth, and studio session. Whether he’s rocking a packed prom, curating a branded corporate event, or finessing a mix for release, his performances are powered by passion, precision, and instinct.
